Tracy Duval has spent her life proving women can play hockey. From leading her college team to coaching little girls, she’s been a champion of the sport. But when a sexist ad for the Barracuda Fantasy Hockey Camp seems to exclude women, she signs up to teach the boys a lesson.

Retired NHL player Flynn Hammerstrom meets Tracy at the local ice rink and is immediately intrigued. She’s mature, confident, sexy—and hello, she plays hockey. He’s ready to settle down again and, after his tumultuous marriage, he’s looking for a woman who is high on fun and low on drama.

Unfortunately, even though he’s nuts about her, the drama he desperately wants to avoid flares up at the fantasy camp.

And Tracy is smack dab in the middle of the fire.

FALLING FOR FLYNN is the first book in the Hockey On Tap series, which is a spin-off (of sorts) of the In The Zone series, but you don’t have to read that series in order to enjoy this story.

Flynn is a retired Barracuda who owns a bar with his fellow team mates, Cole and Slater, who I assume will get their own books. He’s attending the Fantasy Camp in the hopes of expanding their business and falls in lust with Tracy at first sight. Unfortunately, I was slightly turned off by the description of his hairstyle before he changed it. I’m sorry, but I just can’t find it in me to consider a man sexy when he’s three quarters bald and wears what’s left in a ponytail. I liked Tracy, who’s intelligent and giving; she’s an OB/GYN who spends her spare time coaching a young girls hockey team. After some persuasion from her best friend and business partner, Naomi, she decides to take on the Barracudas and their sexist attitude towards women and hockey. Flynn is her all-time favourite player, and I liked that she didn’t fan-girl all over him when they met, and that she stood up to him when he was being a jackass.

It was refreshing to read a story about a couple finding love in their forties, and I’m looking forward to reading the future books in this series. FALLING FOR FLYNN is told in dual POVs and is a novella, so the story is short and sweet. Personally I wish it had been a bit longer, perhaps including more time spent at the bar and a bit more backstory on Flynn and Tracy.

Falling for Flynn Hockey on Tap Book 1 edition by Kate Willoughby Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

After reading so many books about 20 year olds it's nice to see a book about a couple in their 40's. a successful woman makes waves about women and hockey. Can Flynn take the heat knowing his past may still haunt him?
Just like the rest of her books, they have great characters with a richness in details that make you understand their motivations. Kate is also able to write dialogue that's not only funny, but effortlessly supports the storyline. Added bonus is a heroine that is my age! Loved it as much as all her other Barracuda novels.
This felt more like a novella than a meaty Willoughby novel, but I liked the fact that the hero and heroine are older, and also that she was professionally successful and economically independent. And that the HEA didn't involve a wedding!
I've read many of Ms. Willoughby's hockey stories, but this one really made me smile. I liked the older main characters. Not old, but in middle years and still desiring and enjoying romance. ;) They were believable characters and story lines. I'd like to see more of these.
A couple without children! This was a refreshing read because they were in my age group but neither had children. No one moped about, they were responsible about safe intercourse & worked through their trust issues. It didn't need the capital G word in there at ALL. & The Hockey lingo could have been explained for people who don't follow the sport but otherwise, nicely done.
I love most of Kate Willoughby's work but this one wasn't as developed as I'm used to. It felt kind of rushed. Flynn is a former hockey star. Tracy is an OB-GYN who used to play hockey.

I felt like they didn't communicate well at all for people who were dating. And there wasn't a lot of character development. Also, I'm kind of perturbed by Tracy's actions....if she thought the Barracudas were being sexist, why not call them first and say "Hey, do you see what you're doing?" rather than have a demonstration and badmouth the group online?

Anyway, it was ok. Not my favorite but worth the read.
Falling for Flynn by Kate Willoughby was the first book in the Hockey on Tap series, a spin off from Willoughby's In the Zone series. I'm a huge fan of the series.

Flynn Hammerstrom was a retired NHL player that currently owned a brewery with two of his former line mates. He was recently divorced and not looking for women who liked to be in the middle of controversy or in the headlines.

Tracy Duval was an OBGYN that had played hockey into her college years. She currently coached girls hockey in her off time. She would have pursued hockey further had there been more of an opportunity for a female. Tracy responded to an ad to play hockey with former NHL players in the Baracuda Alumni Fantasy Camp. The ad was targeting only men. Tracy signed on to prove a point and the controversy began.

It was told from a dual POV and Willoughby was detailed, humorous and creative with the storyline. It did, however, have quite a few editing errors; which were primarily extra, missing or incorrect words.

Although enjoyable, it wasn't my favorite book by Willoughby. However, I did love the premise of the series focusing around three forty-ish NHL alumni and their venture, The Hat Trick Brewery and Tasting Room. Falling for Flynn set the stage for the series beautifully. Cole Ripley and Slater Jones will continue the series and I can't wait to see who's next.
